Carbon Credit Vouchers

Just about every activity we perform creates CO2. Conferences and events have a big impact on the environment as they tend to consume a lot of resources and produce excessive waste. At Positive Impact we realise they are integral part of many organisations’ operations, so we have designed some simple Carbon Credit Vouchers that you can purchase to offset some of the carbon generated from such operations.

Each Carbon Credit Voucher equates to 1 tonne of CO2.  Each 1 tonne voucher is equivalent to for example, a single flight from Sydney to Perth, driving 4500 kms in a medium sized car or 1 medium (150 litre) bin of waste every week for one year.

Positive Impact has selected the highest quality carbon credits that offer your business a way to help to prevent climate change as well as significantly benefit a local community. The Karnataka Renewable Energy project is located in India's Silicon Valley (situated in Bangalore) - it generates renewable energy from the collection and clean burning of waste agricultural products (such as rice husks) purchased from local farmers.  The farmers are paid for their waste, providing a new and innovative revenue stream that enriches the local community.  The waste is used to generate electricity via a biomass plant. The climate benefits from the project are twofold, the collection of waste ensures crops do not decay in the field causing methane and the project displaces electricity generation by burning fossil fuels.

Carbon Neutral Products

All products influence the environment in one way or another during their lifecycle. Carbon emissions are produced during the extraction of raw materials, the manufacturing process, product transport, usage and finally disposal. Luckily, carbon emissions emitted by a product during its lifecycle can be reduced and further offset with carbon credits to negate harmful impacts on climate change. If you require a carbon neutral product we can, in most cases work with our suppliers and carbon partner to calculate the carbon footprint of a particular product.

The product must first go through a cradle to gate greenhouse gas audit. This means all emissions caused by the product’s existence from manufacture until it reaches the user are calculated. The emissions are offset and the prodcut can adorn the Carbon Neutral Products Logo. We will also supply supporting information to educate the end user. The analysis, consulting and carbon credits are an additional cost and will be presented in a formal quote for approval.  Please note that not all items can be calculated.

 What have we done?

As Positive Impact has not yet performed a year’s worth of business, we did not have enough information for a carbon audit. However, we were keen to take action on climate change so we signed an emissions monitoring agreement with CRI which means that we’ll do an audit of our emissions from electricity, fuel usage, staff travel and waste and will offset 100% of the emissions from this. We have purchased 10 tonnes of the Karnataka Carbon Credits in advance and this has entitled us to 100% LowCO2 certification!

If your business is planning to undertake an audit, offset an event or just keen to find out more please let us know and we will gladly put you in touch with our carbon partner.
